One of the lesser known Emirates of the United Arab Emirates, Ras Al-Khaimah, often abbreviated to RAK, is the northernmost Emirate.

Some price indications can be found below for restaurants, groceries, transportation, utilities and property prices.  Use these as a solid guideline to see how much the cost of living is in Ras Al-Khaimah.

Restaurants

There are plenty of dining possibilities in Ras Al-Khaimah.  You can go real, real cost effective and choose some fast-food restaurants where you can get a meal for 25 AED (£5) or you can go to some of the luxury restaurants dotted around the place and spend over 600 AED (£120) per person.  There are, of course, some mid-range restaurants mixed in too where two can dine for anywhere between 55-150 AED (£11-£31)

Groceries

You can find the prices of different items in supermarkets can be very different depending on where you decide to buy your food from.  The below list is a guideline price.

Transportation

Ras Al-Khaimah has plenty of taxis, you can find that the taxis in RAK typically start at around 3.75 AED (76p) and then for every 1km is another 2 AED (41p).

Petrol prices in Ras Al-Khaimah are very, very low, especially if you’re coming from the UK, petrol prices are around 1.8-2.2 AED (37p-45p) per litre.

Utilities

Your monthly FEWA (Federal Electricity and Water Authority) bill depends on your usage.  Your electricity, water usage and cooling charges are billed by their use.  On average, a 1,000 sq. ft apartment will cost around 500 AED (£100) per month in bills.

Property – Rental

The prices in Ras Al-Khaimah are as follows, a 1 bedroom apartment outside of the city centre will cost around 1,750 AED (£355) per month and in the city centre around 2,125 AED (£430) per month.  A 3 bedroom apartment outside of the city centre costs around 2,500 AED (£500) per month and in the city centre about 3,500 AED (£710).
